The Mapei Group, Milan, Italy, a global manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and other chemical building products, has donated €750,000 to Luigi Sacco Hospital, Milan Polyclinic and San Raffaele Hospital in Milan to support research and provide aid to frontline health care professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company also made a donation to the Italian Red Cross Committee in Milan. Nearly 200,000 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Italy, and more than 26,000 deaths have been reported.
“In a serious situation like this, we believe it is vitally important to support those who are most closely involved in the battle to save the lives of patients in hospitals and in trying to find a cure for the virus,” said the Squinzi family, owners of The Mapei Group, in a press release. “Our thoughts and support also go to the Italian Red Cross, one of the first associations to provide aid and support to those most in need.”
The Mapei Group continues to operate its manufacturing facilities with infection prevention safety protocols in place for all offices and operations. Changing rooms and cafeterias have been shut down, and there is no contact between workers during shift changes. Other preventative measures put in place include checking employees’ body temperatures and requiring all workers to wear protective masks.
