Objective, scientific method for determining roof hail damage

After a hailstorm, there are often doubts about whether a residential or commercial roof system has been damaged. Resolution of damage often becomes somewhat of an arbitrary decision. Homeowners and buildings owners now have an objective, scientific approach for this determination to resolve whether damage to a roof has occurred and an insurance claim should be considered. How? Hail Signature Technologies panels record the occurrence and magnitude of hail impacts. Visit us at www.hailsignature.com.

  • Success again

NRCA's 128th Annual Convention and the 2015 International Roofing Expo® didn't quite break the 2014 all-time attendance record, but they came close. Held Feb. 24-26 in New Orleans, the show's total attendance reached 9,337, down about 200 from 2014. Weather-related issues most likely were the cause of the decline, but 2015's attendance still was well above 2013's attendance of 8,491. Events included a trade show, Community Service Day, student roofing competition, awards ceremony and educational seminars.

  • Restoring a classic home

The distinctive community of Guilford, Md., showcases homes designed by some of the greatest Baltimore architects of the 1900 era, including a private residence recently restored by Fick Bros. Roofing & Exterior Remodeling Co., Baltimore. Built in 1920, the home’s portico roof system experienced leaks for years. As a result of the ongoing leaks, the entire portico needed to be completely rebuilt. For demonstrating superior sheet metal skills and craftsmanship, Fick Bros. was honored with a 2015 Gold Circle Award.

  • Digging into DBEs

Federal and state prosecutors have been increasing efforts throughout the U.S. to prosecute fraud in minority business enterprise programs, particularly disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) programs. You should examine your practices with regard to DBE program requirements and implement an effective monitoring and enforcement program to ensure your operations comply with applicable DBE regulations.
