Underlayment is lightweight

Tarco has added SS400 Ice and Water Armor to its LeakBarrier® line of underlayments.

SS400 Ice and Water Armor is a self-adhering, polymer-modified bitumen roof underlayment reinforced with a fiberglass mat. The underlayment is for use under asphalt shingles and reportedly adheres to concrete, plywood, wood composition board and gypsum sheathing decks. SS400 Ice and Water Armor is said to self-seal around nails and be effective in valleys, ridges, coping joints, skylights, chimneys, vent stacks, dormers, low-slope sections and roof-to-wall intersections.

A 2-square roll of SS400 Ice and Water Armor weighs 48 pounds.

Roof tiles are reflective

DaVinci Roofscapes® has added weathered gray and castle gray to its DaVinci EcoBlend™ line of colors for its synthetic roof tiles.

DaVinci EcoBlends are said to provide high emissivity and reflectivity and reduce buildings' cooling loads. DaVinci EcoBlends reportedly have solar reflectances between 0.26 and 0.34 and thermal emittances between 0.67 and 0.72.

DaVinci Roofscapes also has introduced its Valoré Shake and Valoré Slate roof tiles. Valoré Shake tiles are 9 inches wide by 22 inches long and reportedly look like hand-split cedar shakes, and Valoré Slate tiles are 12 inches wide by 18 inches long and said to resemble natural slate.

Valoré Shake is available in autumn, mountain, Tahoe and weathered gray, as well as DaVinci EcoBlend colors. Each tile features embedded ultraviolet stabilizers. Valoré Slate is available in light gray, medium gray, dark gray, slate gray and slate black.

Valoré Shake and Valoré Slate roof tiles are said to be durable, fire-retardant, wind-resistant and low-maintenance. The tiles reportedly resist curling, cracking, fading, mold, algae, fungus and insects.

Anchor protects workers

Kee® Safety Inc. has introduced Kee Anchor WEIGHTANKA, a portable, nonpenetrating anchor, to its deadweight fall-protection product line.

Kee Anchor WEIGHTANKA reportedly can be used on roofs with up to a 1-in-12 (5-degree) slope where installing passive or collective fall-protection or permanent anchor devices is not possible. Kee Anchor WEIGHTANKA weighs 550 pounds with no single item weighing more than 55 pounds and provides fall protection for one or two workers. The device reportedly assembles easily and can be used on all roof surfaces.

Membrane resembles ballast

Duro-Last® Roofing Inc. has introduced its Duro-Last Rock-Ply® roof system as part of its Duro-Last Designer Series of roof membranes.

Duro-Last Rock-Ply roof system is made of the same membrane material as the Duro-Last roof system and resembles a ballasted roof system. A ballast pattern is printed on the membrane, which features a polymer coating that reportedly helps protect the finish from marring, fading and dirt accumulation. Duro-Last Rock-Ply roof system is a complete system; all ordered components are included when the system is delivered to a job site.

Weather service features upgrades

DTN/Meteorlogix® has added features to its MxVision WeatherSentry® Construction Edition, including improved Lightning Manager® lightning detection and expanded mobile weather monitoring capabilities.

Updates to Lightning Manager reportedly help produce a more concise picture of anticipated lightning activity. The program also features upgraded animated lightning strikes and real-time local radar. Other upgrades include additional radar zoom levels, increased panning functionality and a simplified set-up process for receiving mobile weather alerts.

Seal withstands wind uplift

Chem Link has introduced a penetration seal for TPO membranes to its ChemCurb™ Penetration Seal product line.

The TPO penetration seal is made with a nylon-fiberglass-reinforced polymer and features an external flange. The curb reportedly can withstand vertical forces encountered by TPO membranes and allows TPO "doughnut hole" flashings to be heat welded to the exterior of the flange and surrounding membrane. The exterior membrane flashing is said to provide a smooth appearance and additional barrier against ponding water and ice.

Lift trucks are durable

Hyster Co. has introduced H170-190FT to its Fortis® line of lift trucks. H170-190FT is based on Hyster's H135-155FT pneumatic truck and said to offer a longer wheelbase, more powerful drive train and mast that accommodates loads up to 19,000 pounds.

H170-190FT features a VISTA® mast that reportedly provides optimal operator visibility and superior load support during lifting and lowering. The truck's Hyster turbocharged, intercooled Cummins QSB3.3 Turbo Diesel Engine is said to provide 110 horsepower at 2,400 revolutions per minute and 305 foot-pounds of torque. The truck features an upgraded drive axle, oil-cooled brake design and larger hubs, which reportedly increase truck stability and allow the truck to accommodate heavier loads. Hyster H170-190FT also features enhanced hydraulics and is said to be efficient and durable.

Coping is wind-resistant

W.P. Hickman Co. has added Continuous Cleat Coping, a waterproof coping system with concealed splice plates and no exposed fasteners, to its line of engineered roof edge products.

Continuous Cleat Coping combines a 20-gauge continuous anchor cleat at the parapet face with an intermittent anchor clip at the roof side and is said to be wind-resistant and require no maintenance. The coping features a snap-on cover that reportedly conceals fasteners and allows for full thermal movement, improved performance and reduced oil-canning.

W.P. Hickman also has introduced its EcoEdge Drain Box and EcoEdge Soil Guard, which are said to help with drainage and retaining soil and growth media on vegetative roof systems.

EcoEdge Drain Box's cover reportedly removes easily for drain access. It features prepunched 3- by 1/4-inch slots that are said to provide maximum drainage. A standard Drain Box consists of a 0.08-inch mill finish aluminum base with a 0.063-inch mill finish aluminum cover. Custom sizes and additional metals and finishes are available.

EcoEdge Soil Guard reportedly provides a drain-through separator between vegetative roof system components and can be used with designs that include ballast, pavers, tray systems, or soil and growth medium. A standard EcoEdge Soil Guard includes 4- by 3-inch or 8- by 6-inch angles in 0.063-, 0.08- and 0.125-inch mill aluminum. EcoEdge Soil Guard is available in custom sizes, metals, colors and finishes and can be ordered prepunched or without slots.

Pipe support installs easily

OMG Roofing Products has introduced its Strut Model PipeGuard, which is said to provide support for multiple small pipes in one location.

Strut Model PipeGuard reportedly is flexible and can be used for small rooftop pipe applications, including gas and refrigeration lines, electrical conduit and HVAC. The system reportedly is compatible with PVC, copper and cast-iron pipes. It features an EPDM rubber base and 1 5/8-inch galvanized strut channel that is said to accommodate standard pipe support clamps.

Strut Model PipeGuard reportedly installs easily and will not deteriorate from water or sunlight exposure.
