Underlayment offers fast installation

Tarco has made available LeakBarrier Fast90 self-adhering tile underlayment to be used for tile and slate roof system applications. Said to offer easy and quick installation, the underlayment has a peel-and-stick, self-adhering bottom side that features a high-tack, SBS-modified bitumen compound protected by a release film. A coating of SBS-modified bitumen and asphalt makes the bottom side tacky, and adhesion strength is 30 pounds per foot of length. The granulated asphalt coated top side is said to withstand the weight and stresses of the tiles, and the tiles can be stacked 8 to 10 high with no negative effects.

The underlayment has no exposure limitations. Application is odor-free and involves peeling the release film and rolling out the membrane. The lightweight sheets are available in white and cedar blend.

Charging system is efficient

RIDGID® has released the Rapid Max™ battery-charging platform, which offers a 20-minute charge time for compact batteries and 30-minute charge time for a RIDGID Max HC™ high-capacity battery. The Rapid Max platform monitors electrical, heat and discharge conditions of each battery and has forced air that cools the batteries for a quicker change time. The platform can charge two batteries simultaneously.

In addition, RIDGID has released an 18-volt cordless jig saw, R843, which features five orbital positions and is said to offer precision and flexibility. The jig saw also features a dual bevel base and variable speeds.

R843's die-cast aluminum gear housing and aluminum base are said to be durable, and an ergonomic overmold covers the handle and other points of impact. The 7.8-pound cordless saw comes with three blades; a base-changing wrench; Rapid Max 30-minute charger; and Max HC high-capacity battery.

Hole saws offer durability

Simonds International has made available Simonds carbide-tipped hole saws designed to cut through tough materials quickly and smoothly. The hole saws feature tungsten carbide tooth tips and precision ground teeth and have a cutting depth of 1 9/16 inches.

Underlayment offers protection

Grace Construction Products has acquired and released TRI-FLEX® 30 synthetic roof underlayment that is said to provide enhanced protection from the elements. A 1,000-square-foot roll of the underlayment is 30 pounds, and the underlayment covers the same area as five rolls of felt.

The TRI-FLEX 30 can be left exposed for up to six months and is said to offer efficient tear resistance; can withstand strong wind conditions; and will not crack, dry or rot.

Blade line offers variety

Bosch Power Tools and Accessories has made available the Diamond Blade Line with 62 blade designs: 37 segmented, 11 turbo and 14 continuous rim.

The segmented blades feature Bosch Power Tools and Accessories' progressive segment spacing with every fifth segment raised, which is said to provide more aggressive cutting. Segmented gullets clear the cutting path and are said to offer faster, cleaner cuts with less noise and vibration. The segmented line ranges in diameter from 4 inches to 14 inches for small and large grinders, circular saws and cut-off machines.

The turbo blades are designed to keep the blade edge in constant contact with material, which is said to provide smoother action than the segmented blade. The cutting process is constant with the sintered continuous rim, and full contact is limited by the serrated edge. Jig saw offers variable speed

Metabo Corp. has introduced the STEB135 Plus Jig Saw, a variable-speed jig saw that cuts as deep as 5 1/4 inches in wood. The jig saw has a five-stage orbital blade motion and also can cut through 1 3/8 inches of nonferrous metal and 3/8 of an inch in sheet steel.

The STEB 135 Plus features electronic speed control and offers 1,000-3,000 no-load 1-inch strokes per minute. The 6.2-pound jig saw has a 6.1-ampere motor, 62 inch-pounds of torque and positive locks on the beveling sole plate.

Metabo also offers the portable KGS 255 8 1/2-inch Sliding Compound Miter Saw that offers miter angle cuts from 0 degrees to 47 degrees and will cut a bevel from 0 degrees to 45 degrees. The 32-pound saw has precision stops at 15 degrees, 22.5 degrees, 30 degrees and 45 degrees.

The saw offers a cutting capacity of 2 5/8 inches deep across a 10-inch width at 90 degrees and 1 1/2 inches deep across a 6 7/8-inch width with a 45-degree bevel.

Adhesive is all-purpose

Powers Fasteners Inc. has introduced POWERSTICK,™ an all-purpose high-tack polymer that functions as an adhesive and sealant. The product is moisture- and solvent-resistant and can be used on a variety of materials, including wood, metal, plastic and polystyrene foam board.

The nontoxic POWERSTICK is available in 7- or 10-ounce cans and can be dispensed with either a caulking gun or a spray. It reaches a tack-free stage within 15 minutes and cures for bonding in less than 24 hours, with full sealant cure within five days. The adhesive also is resistant to water, grease, mineral oils and solvents, among others.
