Anchors attach to membranes
Alpine Attachment Anchors has made available its Model Nos. 1250, 2500 and 5000 Alpine Attachment Anchors that are designed to attach mechanical units to membrane roof systems. Model Nos. 1250 and 2500 are said to secure signs, solar panels, guardrails and other fixtures. Model No. 5000 can be used as a fall-protection system. The products reportedly reduce wind uplift and will not rust.
Software system is redesigned
WennSoft Inc. has redesigned The VoyagerVersion 6.00b02, a software system that is said to ease scheduling and dispatching of service technicians. The system now features a graphical dispatch board with drag and drop capabilities. The software can be integrated with Microsoft® MapPoint, which is designed to help technicians locate service calls, and MobileTEC® CE, which wirelessly connects technicians to dispatchers for information about service calls.
Cleaning solvent is biodegradable
Worthen Industries Inc. has released its Upaco SZ-0554, a biodegradable cleaning solvent for polyurethanes. The solvent is said to separate into carbon dioxide and water and not deplete the ozone. The product, approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, can be sprayed using a two-component system and reportedly prevents crystallization of polyisocyanates when they contact moisture.
Roof riser is adaptable
RollCOMTM has made available its Roof Riser Retrofit Framing SystemTM that can adapt to specific project requirements. The system, which can add slopes, ridges, hips and valleys to a flat roof, is made of light-gauge framing products that can be cut to size at a job site. The product weighs less than 3 pounds per square foot and is engineered for even load distribution.
Generator is portable
Dynamic Power Source has made available its PowerBoxTM portable generator that can be installed in a pickup truck's bed. The product weighs 1,200 pounds and is 34 1/2 inches long, which allows a pickup truck to haul other materials, as well. The generator is said to simultaneously provide energy for welders, compressors and power tools.
The product is available with 10-gallon air tanks, air outlets, a Kohler® battery, electric starter, stainless-steel fuel tank and other standard features, as well as several option packages.
Circular saw cuts metal
Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. has released its 18-volt Metal Cutting Circular Saw. The cordless saw is said to cut conduit, angle iron and steel, copper and galvanized pipe, metal roofing and siding, and other products. The saw features a 3,200-rotations-per-minute motor and 6 1/2-inch, 48-tooth blade, as well as aluminum upper and lower guarding to protect it from scratches.
Skylights resist high winds
Sun-Tek Manufacturing has released its Sun-Tek High Impact Skylights that are designed to resist damage from high winds. The skylights, made of argon-filled insulated glass, are covered with a layer of polycarbonate plastic.
The product line includes curb-mounted skylights for up to 46 1/2- by 89 1/2-inch roof openings; self-flashing skylights for up to 46 1/2-square-inch roof openings; and curb-mounted tubular skylights for 10-, 14- and 21-inch diameter roof openings. The product line also includes the Spyder Multi-Tube System that facilitates up to four tubes from one roof opening.
Membrane is preweathered
RHEINZINK CANADA LTD. has made available its RHEINZINK® ProRoofing, a preweathered and coated material that will not compromise the formation of zinc-carbonate protection. The product, which can be used in roofing, flashing and coping applications, is corrosion-resistant and has a flexible underside coating that reportedly protects the product from condensation and abrasion.
The company also has released its RHEINZINK®AERO 63 perforated sheet. The product has a 63 percent free ventilation cross section and reportedly prevents snow, birds or small animals from entering ventilation and exhaust openings. The 20-gauge sheet is available in 39- by 79-inch dimensions.
Pitch pocket protects roof systems
Halex has made available its Halex Zinc Die Cast Pitch Pocket that is designed to seal roof protrusions and protect low-slope roof systems from failure. The zinc-alloy pocket is said to resist corrosion and withstand 12 tons of pressure. The product features lock-in hooks, which reportedly prevent pre-measuring, and is available in 4-inch corners and extensions. The pocket reportedly does not have sharp edges.
Boom can lift 2.2 tons
Manitowoc Boom Trucks has released its S282 boom-lift truck that is designed to lift materials weighing up to 2.2 tons to a maximum jib height of 82 feet.
The truck's chassis is available in two modelsSterling Model LT 7501, which features a 300-horsepower engine and nine-speed transmission, and Sterling Model LT 9501, which features a 410-horsepower engine and 10-speed transmission. The truck's crane can be controlled by a wireless remote control or hard-wired backup console and features onboard generators and hydraulic outriggers.
Tools remove shingles and nails
Mislich Brothers Inc. has released products to ease roof system tear-off work. The Roofer Stripper® removes shingles and nails; Mini Stripper® tears off dormers, overhangs, step flashings and ridge caps; and Shingle StripperTM removes multiple layers of shingles that have many nails.
Polyurethane prevents flat tires
Arnco has made available its HeviDuty® liquid polyurethane polymer that reportedly eliminates flat tires and blowouts. The polymer can be pumped into a tire's valve stem and cures to a synthetic rubber in 24 hours. The product is designed for use with slow-moving or heavy off-road equipment.
Slate system reaches the United States
Nu-Lok Roofing Systems has made available its Nu-LokTM slate installation system in the United States. The system can be used with natural slate or the company's Italian Vitrified Ceramic Slate, which reportedly can be walked on and resists weather, acids, moss and fungi. The system features ZincalumeTM metal laths, which are said to resist corrosion and facilitate removal and replacement of individual slate pieces. The system is available with a 50-year warranty.
CD-ROM helps file liens
Made E-Z Products has released its Contractors' Lien Maker CD-ROM that provides materials to help contractors file notices and liens. The software features lien-warning notices, letters of notification for county recorders' offices, owner notices, promissory notes and other forms. The CD-ROM includes instructions to help create and track documents.
Equipment box is heavy-duty
Thybar Corp. has made available its heavy-duty equipment box that is made of 14-gauge GALVALUME® steel. The box features a double padlock hasp, as well as mounting bolts for permanent placement or wheels for easy movement. The product includes a compression-spring lid and hold-open arm to keep it from closing unexpectedly.
Polystyrene is highlighted in video
The EPS Molders Association has released a CD-ROM-based video about expanded polystyrene. The video, EPS Just Makes Sense, highlights the use of expanded polystyrene as insulation in flat and tapered roof systems, exterior insulated finishing systems, structural insulated panels and others. The video was produced to increase knowledge about expanded polystyrene's design, installation processes and energy-saving capabilities.
Attachments add versatility to booms
JLG® Industries Inc. has made available its Workstation in the SkyTM optional attachments for its boom lifts. The SkyPowerTM generator attachment features a power cable that is routed from the base-mounted generator through a boom's power track to an outlet on the platform. The generator provides 7,500 watts of 110- or 220-volt electricity to run power tools and other boom-lift attachments.
The company's SkyWelderTM attachment features a Miller® CSTTM 250 welder that can be built into a boom lift's platform. The attachment eliminates the need for power lines that hang off a platform.
The SkyBrightTM attachment features four light bulbs or six light bulbs that produce up to 6,000 watts of lighting electricity. And the company's SkySawTM attachment features a sawing and drilling package with a hydraulic pump. The system includes an on-board pressure washer that features two 150-gallon chassis-mounted water tanks and cleaning wand that provides 3,500 pounds per square inch of pressure.
Felt works with various roof systems
Tarco Specialty Products Inc. has released its LeakBarrierTM SBS Multipurpose Underlayment that can be installed under composition shingles, shakes, tiles and metal roof systems. The product also can be used as a base or ply sheet for modified bitumen, built-up and cold-applied roof systems.
The felt, which is available in 1- and 2-square rolls, is made of an inorganic fiberglass-reinforced sheet placed between two SBS asphalt layers that have been modified with synthetic resins.
Attachment holds screws in place
PAM Fastening Technology has released its PAM Fastening E-Z Driver that holds screws in place while driving them into hard-to-reach areas. The product, which is said to attach to any screwdriver or drill, has a ball-bearing system that accommodates phillips and square-drive screws. The driver also features settings for round-head screws and flush-mounting and countersinking applications. The attachment weighs less than 6 ounces and is sold with a phillips 1/4-inch screw bit.
Screw compressor is hydraulic
American Eagle Accessories GroupTM has released its heavy-duty, hydraulic above-deck screw compressorModel SRS-40. The compressor has a 40-cubic-foot-per-minute capacity, and its motor reaches a speed of 8,000 rotations per minute. The product, which is made of cast iron and housed in sheet metal, features a thermostatic operation that cools its oil and maintains operating temperatures.
Powder-actuated tools have more speed
Powers Fasteners Inc. has made available two powder-actuated tools that reportedly offer more speed for repetitive fastening applications. Model FA35STM automatically advances a load strip. Once users feed in a new pin, threaded stud or assembly, the 0.25-caliber tool is ready to be fired again. The 0.27-caliber Model PA3500TM allows users to decrease power without having to discard a partially used load strip.
Weather alerts are wireless
Meteorlogix has released MxVision Weather Information Notification Service,TM a weather-alert system that can be used with e-mail-compatible cellular telephones, personal digital assistants, pagers and personal computers. The service monitors user-specified locations 24 hours per day and notifies users of approaching weather conditions. The system also delivers county-based National Weather Service watches, warnings and advisories.
