Anchor distributes loads

DBI-SALA® has introduced its Permanent Roof Top Anchor, which features a load-distributing system that forces the anchor's stanchion to tip over when arresting forces are exerted on it. This reportedly directs forces to the anchor's base and fasteners and allows the anchor to be attached to approved roof structures without fastening to a structural member.

Shingles are strong

Owens Corning has introduced its Duration™ Series shingles with SureNail® technology. The shingles feature a wide, high-visibility nailing strip that is said to allow greater installation accuracy. The strip's placement on the shingles is said to help eliminate bumps in the bundle, resulting in a flatter appearance.

Duration Premium shingles are said to resist up to 130-mph winds, and Duration shingles are said to resist up to 110-mph winds. The shingles are available in 12 colors.

System absorbs grease

Roof Protection Systems has introduced its Exhaust Grease Inhibition System (EGIS)© that is said to absorb vented grease at its source. EGIS features a nonflammable porous rock that reportedly soaks up grease while allowing rainwater to flow through.

EGIS has a solid frame with zinc-coated bolts that reportedly prevent corrosion. The frame is said to be fire- and ultraviolet-resistant and reportedly will not rot, rust or support mildew.

System resists the elements

Stevens Roofing Systems has introduced Stevens EP™ Profile Plus, an enhanced 1 1/2-inch-tall extruded system for commercial roofs. The system is said to be flexible and easy to install and provide the appearance of a standing-seam metal roof.

Stevens EP Profile Plus battens can be installed with double-sided butyl tape, which reportedly eliminates penetrations and makes the system watertight. The system is available in nine colors and reportedly can be installed on flat and radius roof decks without deformation.

Underlayment resists moisture

Carlisle Coatings & Waterproofing has introduced its Water and Ice Protection (WIP) 300HT, a self-adhering 40-mil-thick underlayment for use under metal surfaces. WIP 300HT has a high tensile strength and reportedly can withstand temperatures up to 240 F.

WIP 300HT is composed of rubberized asphalt laminated to a polyethylene film layer, which reportedly provides dual-barrier moisture protection. WIP 300HT can be installed directly on a variety of surfaces and is said to seal around nails, staples, screws or clips that puncture it during installation.

WIP 300HT is available in 67- by 3-foot sheets with black or white surfaces.

Substrate resists corrosion

Follansbee Steel has introduced its TCS Satin,™ a stainless-steel substrate plated with Follansbee Steel's ZT® Alloy. TCS Satin has a micro-embossed low-sheen gray patina finish that is said to appear similar to zinc plate.

System reduces waste

Recycle Resize Systems Inc. has introduced The Texas Crusher,™ a portable system that crushes 55-gallon drums. The system attaches to a 5,000- to 12,000-pound forklift; a drum is placed on the system's base plate; and the operator lifts the fork to crush the drum.

Saw blades are durable

DEWALT has introduced its DW4864 and DW4869 metal reciprocating saw blades for cutting heavy-duty metal. The saw blades feature a high-speed steel strip and shank angle that reportedly allows more of the blades' teeth to make contact with material being cut.
