AppliCad has introduced its RoofScape application, which can be downloaded from www.roofestimating.com and allows users to model roof geometry in 3-D using the same tools as the company's Sorcerer and Roof Wizard products. Using an online server version of Sorcerer, the application prepares a roof estimate based on roof area and trim length. A complete roof model is sent to the server and processed with a user's personalized costs to prepare a detailed client quotation for a specific job.

Welder features updates
Leister Process Technologies has introduced its VARIMAT V2 hot-air automatic welder.
The VARIMAT V2 features a modified welding nozzle and a brushless blower motor that is said to increase welding speed to up to 39.3 feet per minute depending on material. The welder also features an improved drive motor design that reportedly can be used on slopes up to 30 degrees. Underlayment is slip-resistant
CertainTeed Corp. has introduced CertainTeed® DiamondDeck™ underlayment, which consists of a synthetic polymer-based material that reportedly can be used in place of standard felt underlayment.
DiamondDeck can be installed on steep-slope roof decks and reportedly serves as a water-resistant layer beneath roofing shingles. The underlayment is said to be lightweight and includes a surface treatment that reportedly provides superior traction and slip resistance in dry and wet conditions. The underlayment comes in 4-foot-wide, 250-foot-long rolls.
In addition, CertainTeed has introduced its Flintlastic™ Ultra Glass SA Base Sheet for polymer-modified bitumen roof systems; the base sheet reportedly is easy to install and ideal for use with two-ply, 20-year commercial roof systems.
Flintlastic Ultra Glass SA Base Sheet can be used in new construction applications and reportedly applies smoothly and uniformly without the need for adhesives or hot asphalt. The base sheet is said to provide additional strength to roof systems and ensure long roof system service life.
Additionally, CertainTeed has introduced its EnerGen™ Photovoltaic Solar Power Roofing System, which features UNI-SOLAR® thin-film laminates that reportedly integrate with traditional asphalt shingles.

Roof hatch is energy-efficient
The Bilco Co. has introduced a roof hatch that meets LEED® standards for recycled content and reportedly is more than 48 percent more energy-efficient than standard roof hatches.
The roof hatch features an insulated cover and curb and a 2-inch-thick polyisocyanurate thermal insulation board with an R-value of 12. The hatch's EPDM finger-type gasket is said to produce a positive seal between the hatch's cover and curb and reduce air permeability. Vent fits nontraditional rooflines

Roof assembly remediates sound
