BuildSite LLC has launched BuildSite Green Data, a searchable database of green building materials combined with online templates for the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) product submittals.

BuildSite Green Data's submittal templates are based on LEED Online reporting requirements. Users reportedly can sort product information by specific green attributes, such as volatile organic compound content, recycled material content and manufacturing location. BuildSite Green Data also features LEED credit browse and advanced parameterized search capabilities.

Shingles are weather-resistant

Atlas Roofing Corp. has introduced its StormMaster® LM shingle and StormMaster Slate product lines; both products reportedly can withstand extreme climate and weather conditions.

The StormMaster LM product line consists of laminated architectural shingles featuring a blend of SBS polymer-modified bitumen that reportedly provides flexibility, strength and durability. The shingles are said to resist cracking, splitting, warping and shrinking in hot and cold climates and reportedly can withstand winds and wind-driven rain in excess of 100 mph.

StormMaster Slate is said to be durable and long-lasting and look like slate. It is available in various colors and reportedly is wind- and impact-resistant.

In addition, Atlas Roofing has introduced its ACFoam® CrossVent™ RB, a radiant barrier that reportedly prevents most radiant heat transfer and reduces the temperature gradient across polyisocyanurate insulation boards.

ACFoam CrossVent RB combines a foil radiant barrier oriented strand board with polyisocyanurate insulation that is said to provide superior thermal efficiency.

Saddle box secures equipment

Knaack LLC and WEATHER GUARD® Equipment have introduced their E-Line™ Model 143 Saddle Box, an equipment storage unit that is said to be secure, durable and convenient.

E-Line Model 143 Saddle Box features a secure locking system and full-length, piano-style hinge that is said to be tamper-resistant. The saddle box also features a removable toolbox and lift-out tote tray, as well as a reinforced aluminum diamond-plate body with an automotive-grade, baked-on powder-coat finish. Slip sheet resists fire

GAF Materials Corp. has introduced VersaShield® Solo™ Fire Resistant Slip Sheet, a slip sheet for installation within roof assemblies where an increased fire rating is desired.

VersaShield Solo Fire Resistant Slip Sheet comes in 6-foot-wide sheets that are said to roll out smoothly and lay flat. The slip sheet reportedly provides a fire rating that will help roofs withstand exposure to fires originating from sources outside buildings.

Granules reduce energy use

3M's Industrial Mineral Products Division has introduced Premium 3M™ Cool Roofing Granules, which reportedly are up to four times more reflective than comparable standard colored granules based on the company's reflectivity test methods.

Premium 3M Cool Roofing Granules are said to be as brightly colored as standard granules and reportedly can help reduce a home's energy consumption and costs. The granules are compatible with the company's Scotchgard™ Algae Resistant Roofing System.

Underlayment prevents leaks

Tarco has introduced NR500HT Ice and Water Armor to its LeakBarrier® underlayment product line. It reportedly is highly effective in valleys, ridges, coping joints, chimneys, vents, dormers, skylights and other flashing areas and prevents leaks caused by ice and water damming and wind-driven rain.

NR500HT Ice and Water Armor is a 40-mil-thick nonreinforced roof underlayment featuring a rubberized asphaltic adhesive compound that reportedly withstands temperatures up to 250 F. The underlayment is surfaced with a multilaminate polyolefin film structure that is said to be skid-resistant. It reportedly adheres to a wide variety of substrates and is suitable for use with all shingle roof types, as well as metal roofing and mechanically fastened tile roof systems.
