The Alliance announces MVP Award winners
The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress announced the winners of its 11th Annual Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards during NRCA's 124th Annual Convention held Feb. 14-18 in Las Vegas. The MVP Awards program recognizes and honors outstanding roofing workers from various U.S. regions.
The winners were chosen based on their significant contributions in one or more of the following areas: outstanding on-the-job performance; on-the-job safety performance; contributions to a team effort; community service and volunteerism; and other noteworthy contributions and activities. Pocket guide addresses safety issues
NRCA's Pocket Guide to Safety is a 100-page, pocket-sized, spiral-bound safety guide for laborers, mechanics, foremen and others on job sites. Among other things, the guide addresses first-aid and emergency treatment; weather; fall protection; personal protective equipment; hazard communication; substance abuse; and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
A Spanish version of Pocket Guide to Safety, Guía de Bolsillo de Seguridad, also is available. Both versions of the pocket guide cost $8 for NRCA members and $16 for nonmembers.

RISE™ certifies solar professionals
Roof Integrated Solar Energy™ (RISE) Inc., which was founded through a partnership between NRCA and the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing, has announced its first Certified Solar Roofing Professionals™ (CSRPs™). The CSRP designation is a voluntary certification for professionals who plan and oversee the installation of roof-mounted photovoltaic systems. The certification applies to individuals only, not companies.
The following CSRPs successfully passed a rigorous exam in December 2010 to obtain the certification. The next exam date is scheduled for May 13.
