NRCA introduces employment law guide
NRCA has released Employment Law: A Legal Guide for Roofing Contractors, Second Edition, a comprehensive guide that provides an overview of the most recent and pertinent federal laws applicable to business management and employment relationships.
The guide is organized according to the major stages of the employment relationship and addresses topics such as the hiring process, immigration issues, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and employment terminations, union issues and personnel records.

NRCA to hold 2010 Midyear Meetings
NRCA will hold its 2010 Midyear Meetings at The Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago July 13-17. NRCA's Executive Committee, board of directors, committees and task forces will meet to discuss NRCA and industry issues and plan for NRCA's 2010-11 fiscal year.

NRCA has made available The NRCA Construction Details CD2010 and The NRCA Roofing Manual CD2010.
The NRCA Construction Details CD2010 can be used with AutoCAD® software to customize plans for specific projects. It includes the construction details contained in all volumes of The NRCA Roofing Manual: The NRCA Roofing Manual: Architectural Metal Flashing, Condensation Control and Reroofing2010; The NRCA Roofing Manual: Steep-slope Roof Systems2009; The NRCA Roofing Manual: Metal Panel and SPF Roof Systems2008; and The NRCA Roofing Manual: Membrane Roof Systems2007.
The NRCA Roofing Manual CD2010 contains all information and construction details contained in the print versions of The NRCA Roofing Manual. It allows users to search the manuals' text by keyword or phrase, print any portion of the text or graphics, and import the text into a word processing program.

NRCA offers repair manual
NRCA offers Repair Manual for Low-slope Membrane Roof Systems, a comprehensive repair manual that focuses on identifying problems and permanently repairing low-slope roof membranes. Readers can learn the most reliable long-term repair procedures for built-up, polymer-modified bitumen, thermoplastic and thermoset roof systems.
Repairs addressed in the manual are placed in three categories: spot patching, general repairs, and major repairs and maintenance. The hands-on manual, with instructions for more than 150 repairs, is designed to be used at job sites.

NRCA University offers safety program
NRCA University is offering Profitability Through Effective Safety Programs, a daylong program funded by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The course, which is free for attendees, focuses on reducing injuries, sustaining productivity and increasing profitability through a safety program's critical elements.
The course addresses such topics as a risk management approach to safety; identifying risks; risk transfer techniques and strategies; effective safety training programs; discipline policies that change behavior; and safety committee structure and purpose.
Each participant will receive classroom materials and a resource guide in an electronic format developed specifically for the course. These resources will help participants create a safety program suitable for safety and health compliance that can be used in client proposals and submittals.
Profitability Through Effective Safety Programs will be held May 6 in Philadelphia; May 7 in Washington, D.C.; May 19 in San Francisco; and May 21 in Seattle.

NRCA members can get a free health insurance quote
NRCA members can get a free, no-obligation health insurance quote from Orland Park, Ill.-based Mass Marketing Insurance Consultants (MMIC) Inc.
To participate, NRCA members must complete a proposal request form at www.mmicinsurance.com/nrca and submit it to MMIC. When MMIC receives the form, it selects two insurance companies based on an applicant's needs, location and number of employees. Within 48 hours, MMIC evaluates and negotiates with the two insurance companies to tailor a plan that best fits the applicant's needs and e-mails the applicant a proposal with rates and benefit comparisons.
MMIC will follow up by e-mail to discuss the proposal, answer questions, and send an enrollment kit and application if the applicant is interested in applying for coverage. The applicant completes the insurance provider's application and sends it to MMIC for review. The following day, MMIC sends the application to the insurance company.
