The roofing industry makes contributions

NRCA member Advanced Roofing Inc., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has committed to be a title sponsor for Rebuilding Together®'s 12th annual pre-Super Bowl event, Kickoff to Rebuild 2007; the company has made a significant monetary contribution. To support Advanced Roofing's efforts, NRCA has increased its yearly contribution to Rebuilding Together, which is the largest volunteer housing rehabilitation organization in the U.S. NRCA is a co-sponsor of Kickoff to Rebuild 2007.

The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress; Florida Roofing, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association Inc.; and Bradco Supply Corp., Avenel, N.J., also have committed to donate money and material to the event.

Kickoff to Rebuild 2007 will take place Feb. 2 in Miami, two days before Super Bowl XLI. NFL officials and players, as well as community members, will volunteer their services for the rehabilitation of two Miami homes and reroofing of four homes. The event will feature the tag line "Shout it from the rooftops: Join the team" and be featured on the pre-game show on CBS.

Online resources

NRCA's Web site, www.nrca.net, offers many resources and benefits. Following are some ways to get involved with NRCA's online community.

SpecRight update

The SpecRight Program, an NRCA-sponsored program supported by The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress and other industry partners, focuses on educating roofing contractors about sustainable, environmentally responsive, energy-efficient roof systems. In turn, SpecRight-trained roofing contractors can help building owners make intelligent, informed decisions based on the most current technology available.

Upcoming training sessions for roofing contractors will be held Jan. 16 in Winston-Salem, N.C., and March 5 in Las Vegas. For more information or to register for a training session, contact Janice Davis, NRCA's manager of education and risk management, at (800) 323-9545, Ext. 7505, or e-mail jdavis@nrca.net. Contractor training sessions also are available on a contract basis. Contact Allison Noble, NRCA's manager of customized education, at (800) 323-9545, Ext. 7509, to schedule a training session.

Additionally, NRCA plans to introduce the SpecRight Program to the building owner, consultant and designer communities during NRCA's 120th Annual Convention in Las Vegas March 6-8. Educational sessions currently are available for building owners on a contract basis only. Contact Noble to schedule an educational session.
