Get ready to celebrate!

National Roofing Week is approaching, and it’s time to salute the roofing industry

The past few months have been especially challenging for everyone personally and professionally. And in the midst of all the difficulty and hurdles, roofing contractors in most areas have continued to operate, providing career opportunities, and protecting the homes and businesses of their customers.

There is no better way to celebrate the industry’s perseverance than National Roofing Week, which will be held Aug. 23-29. As in years past, NRCA encourages all members to participate by engaging in their communities and informing the public about the essential roles roofs and professional roofing contractors play in every community.

Each NRCA member contractor will be receiving a National Roofing Week kit with instructions about how to participate, as well as examples of social media posts.

The week’s activities also will include the We Are Family raffle, sponsored by A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply, Aurora, Ill.

To participate, submit a group photo of your employees to NRCA Manager of Online Communications Alyssa DeSantis at adesantis@nrca.net for a chance to win a party pack for your office! The deadline for entries is Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Winners will be drawn at random by NRCA and announced Friday, Aug. 28; winners will have their choice of a $500 prize for their roofing families. Winning photos will be posted on NRCA’s social media platforms, on display at the 2021 International Roofing Expo® and included in future National Roofing Week promotions.

Part of every National Roofing Week includes highlights of charitable giving. And this year, NRCA is encouraging those who have the means to participate in NRCA Giving Day, which will be held Tuesday, Aug. 25, to benefit the Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program. Donations currently are being accepted; NRCA Giving Day donations will close at 11:59 p.m. (central time) Aug. 25.

The Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program helps individuals seeking to further their education to pursue careers in the roofing or building construction industries. Scholarship recipients receive funding for up to four years of full-time study at any accredited post-secondary institution of the student’s choice.

NRCA looks forward to celebrating the industry with you during National Roofing Week! For more information or if you have questions, please contact Krista Berns, an NRCA director of communications, at kberns@nrca.net.

Ambika Puniani Reid is editor of Professional Roofing and NRCA's vice president of communications and production.
