I am a safety director for Korellis Roofing Inc., Hammond, Ind.
What is the most unusual roofing project you've performed?
I had to set up a safety plan for a burnt warehouse we were preparing to reroof.
Why did you become a part of the roofing industry?
I wanted to work in construction, and this was the first job that became available.
What was your first roofing experience?
Tending a hot-tar kettle
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a policeman.
What is the most high-tech item in your house?
A computer

and why?
I would invite Bobby Knight, Dick Butkus and Dan Hampton because of the passion
and intensity they had for their sports.
What are the most challenging aspects of your job?
Keeping our employees conscious of safety and convincing new employees to buy into
safety
What is your roofing industry involvement?
I am a member of NRCA's Health and Safety Committee.
I also teach NRCA's Roofing
Safety: OSHA 10-hour Program and
CERTA classes.
People would be surprised to know …
When I started working for Korellis Roofing in 1977, there were only seven employees
working there. Now, we have up to 120 employees during peak season.
