What is your position within your company?
I am commercial roofing estimator for Sutter Roofing Co. of Florida, Sarasota.

What is the most unusual roofing project of which you have been a part?
I worked on a full deck replacement reroofing project on a fruit juicing facility in Bradenton, Fla. Because the deck material was defective, we returned two years later to replace it.

Why did you become involved in the roofing industry?
When I was between jobs the summer after I finished high school, working in the roofing industry gave me an opportunity to earn a paycheck.

What was your first roofing experience?
Installing a single-ply roof system on a new construction fast food restaurant

What is your roofing industry involvement?
I currently am enrolled in NRCA University’s Future Executives Institute—Class 9. I also attend meetings of the Sarasota Manatee Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association, a local chapter of the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association Inc.

What are your favorite stress relievers?
Fishing and boating

What was your first job?
I worked at a local fishing bait and tackle shop.

People would be surprised to know ...
I played guitar in a local band after high school, and I’ve shared the stage with internationally known heavy metal bands.

Big city or small town?
Small town because I prefer the simple life. I recently rode in an Uber and a subway train for the first time.

What’s the most exciting/adventurous thing you’ve done?
In Jensen Beach, Fla., I used a kayak to put out shark bait during a cold front in seas with 7- to 8-foot waves. I was surrounded by hundreds of sharks free-jumping out of the water.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?
I would go to the Indian Ocean to catch massive dogtooth tuna and giant trevally.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I have always wanted to be a professional charter fishing captain.

My favorite part about working in the roofing industry is ...
I like the day-to-day challenges. One thing you always can count on is things change daily in roofing.

What is your favorite food?
Pizza!

What’s your favorite roofing material to work with? Why?
I like single-ply roofing, and I’ve enjoyed installing it over the years. It makes sense to promote the most practical, cost-effective product.

What do you consider a waste of time?
I am not a fan of driving.

What is the most high-tech item in your house?
My Amazon Alexa

What qualities do you most admire in a person?
Integrity and honesty are both huge to me.

What do you consider your most rewarding experience?
The most rewarding experience I’ve had is starting a family and becoming a father!
