What is your position within your company?
I am president of Mint Roofing Inc., Minneapolis.

What is the most unusual roofing project you've performed?
We worked on several historical buildings at Carleton College, Northfield, Minn. The buildings are beautiful and required a lot of finesse, use of multiple types of roof systems and coordination on a tight schedule.

What song do you find yourself listening to over and over?

How did you get involved in the roofing industry?
Luck! I married my wife, Michele, whose parents owned our company, which was formerly Dalbec Roofing. We now are third-generation owners and made the bold move to rebrand three years ago. We love the new name and look of our 65-year-old company.

What was your first roofing experience?
Going up a 40-foot ladder to a roof for a repair and not knowing how to get off the ladder when I reached the top. I realized how silly I looked crawling over the edge when I saw how gracefully the guy behind me stepped off.

What is your roofing industry involvement?
I'm in my second term as an NRCA director. I also served a term as a Midwest Roofing Contractors Association director, and I'm active in our local association.

What are your favorite items on your desk?
A long time ago, I cleared my desk of a lot of personal things to help me stay focused. Being a stockholder, my Green Bay Packer mug stayed.

What was your first job?
Working in the warehouse and yard of my mom's family business

If you could invite any three people to dinner (dead or alive), whom would you invite? Why?
James Taylor because he's always been my favorite musician; George Washington because of the history buff in me; and Vince Lombardi because he was considered a great and inspiring leader.

What is your favorite vacation?
Snowmobiling and skiing with my family in Montana

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?
Cuba has been on my list for a long time. I'd love to visit before it becomes too touristy.

What do you consider a waste of time?
Standing in line

What are your best and worst habits?
My best habit is my optimistic outlook (some say I wear rose-colored glasses). My worst habit definitely is procrastination.

What quality do you most like in a person?
It's difficult to pick one. The yardstick I most often use is our company's core values of passion, flexibility, integrity and fun.

What is your biggest pet peeve?
Rude people

What three words best describe you?
Adventurous, spontaneous and caring

What is your favorite stress reliever?
Riding my mountain bike down a fast, twisty trail through the woods

What's the most exciting/adventurous thing you've done?
I'm a backcountry snowmobile rider. I get a lot of excitement and adventure every day we head up the mountain.

What is your favorite food?
Fresh fish cooked on the grill

If you had a time machine, would you go to the future or the past? Why?
I'm a history buff, so I'd go to the past. I've always been intrigued with the American Revolution, and I'd want to watch our Founding Fathers at work.
