What is your position within your company?
I am senior research scientist for The Dow Chemical Co., Spring House, Pa.
What is the most unusual roofing project you've performed?
I led a new cool roofing technology test and was told there would be a crew to do
the work. When I arrived, I found the crew consisted of inmates from the local prison.
They were a great group of guys—productive and cooperative. The trial went well
and gave us a success story to help launch a new product.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Why?
The ability to time travel—I am an avid "Doctor Who" fan.
What is your roofing industry involvement?
I serve on the board of directors of the Cool Roof Rating Council and am an active
member of the Reflective Roof Coatings Institute and Roof Coatings Manufacturers
Association.
Why did you become involved in the roofing industry?
An opportunity arose within The Dow Chemical Co. to lead the research group I currently
lead. I knew about cool roofing concepts and wanted to get involved in this exciting
area of the construction market. I already had about 20 years of coatings experience,
so the transition was an easy one.
What's your favorite movie?
"My Fair Lady"
If you could meet any historical figure, whom would you meet? Why?
Jesus Christ—he is the cornerstone of my faith, so to meet him would be the ultimate
encounter for me.
What is your favorite stress reliever?
Playing music—I play guitar, bass, brass instruments and sing.

Meeting the people in the industry, and in my role, I get to meet everyone
What item can you never leave the house without?
My smart phone
What's the most exciting thing you've done?
Adopting my son Michael—I have three wonderful sons, and it was a thrill not only
because of the obvious joy of gaining another son, but there was a real battle that
ensued between all parties who laid "claim" to him.
What is your favorite food?
Eating at Fogo de Chao—the Brazilian steakhouse dining experience is the absolute
best.

Honest, loyal and creative
What are the most challenging aspects of your job?
The complexity of all that has to be done
People would be surprised to know …
I hold a U.S. patent; I studied Shaolin Kung Fu for five years; and I am active
in Family Promise of Salem County, an organization that reaches out to homeless
families in our area.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Australia—I was sent to work there for four weeks in 1995, and I've always
wanted to go back.
