Austin, Texas-based Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing recently worked with Austech Roof Consultants Inc., Austin, and Architectural Building Components (ABC), Houston, to reroof Austin's Great Hills Baptist Church. Crew members removed the 50,000-square-foot sanctuary's existing standing-seam metal roof system and installed a new standing-seam roof system—ABC's 238T Structural Metal Roof System.
ABC's on-site production truck manufactured symmetrical 125-foot-long panels with no end laps and ran the panels directly onto the hexagon-shaped sanctuary roof. Crew members also installed 24-gauge, 16-inch-wide panels and multi-span clips. Additionally, Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing installed new metal wall, fascia and soffit panels; a fully adhered TPO roof system; sheet-metal copings, gutters, downspouts and flashing; and elastomeric coating.
"This project was challenging because of the lengthy panels, unique shape of the roof and safety precautions required when installing a roof system on the church, which also includes a full-time day care center," says Russell Johnson, project estimator for Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing. "Even though there were extraneous variables unique to the project, we are proud to be able to provide a superior roof system installation without disrupting the church's daily operations."
