Constructed in 1978, the Orient Road Jail, Tampa, Fla., is a high-security facility with a 500-inmate maximum capacity. The 17-building facility encompasses 152 separate roof sections recently renovated by Service Works, Tampa.

A Sika Sarnafil® S327 60-mil-thick thermoplastic PVC roof membrane was selected to replace the failing EPDM membrane. A 1/2-inch-thick SECUREROCK® recovery board was installed with OMG RhinoBond® plates followed by the new PVC membrane. Numerous sizes of Sarnafasteners were required on-site to meet the minimum fastener depth requirement without drilling through the concrete decks' bottoms and jail cell ceilings. High-traffic areas were upgraded to 80-mil-thick PVC membrane.

More than 7 miles of vertical base flashings, 5 miles of Sarnaclad metal edge flashing, 6,000 Sarnacorners, 420 PVC-clad overflow scuppers and 750 pipe penetration flashings were used to complete the massive project.
