Antis Roofing and Waterproofing is award finalist
Antis Roofing and Waterproofing, Irvine, Calif., has been selected as one of three finalists for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's 2017 Best Corporate Steward—Small and Middle Market Business Award.
According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Best Corporate Steward awards recognize companies that are responsive and responsible members of society and whose values, operational practices and decision-making exemplify "shared value" for their shareholders, customers, employees, communities and the environment. Companies with revenues of $1 billion or less are eligible for the Best Corporate Steward—Small and Middle Market Business Award. Companies with revenues more than $1 billion are eligible for the Best Corporate Steward—Large Business Award.
Antis Roofing and Waterproofing was selected as a finalist for the 2017 Best Corporate Steward—Small and Middle Market Business Award for its community service work benefiting Alzheimer's Orange County, Boys & Girls Club of Garden Grove, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, Hope Center for the Arts, Orange County Food Bank, and Orange County Ronald McDonald House, among other organizations.
The winner of the 2017 Best Corporate Steward—Small and Middle Market Business Award will be announced Nov. 15 during the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's 2017 Citizens Award Gala in Washington, D.C.
Nations Roof receives risk management award
Nations Roof LLC, Lithia Springs, Ga., received National Underwriter Property & Casualty's Excellence in Workers' Compensation Risk Management Award during the 72nd annual Workers' Compensation Educational Conference held Aug. 6-9 in Orlando, Fla. The annual award is given to three organizations that demonstrate exceptional loss control, safety and return-to-work programs. The winners are among the top performers in managing workers' compensation costs.

PetersenDean Roofing & Solar, Fremont, Calif., has chosen GAF, Parsippany, N.J., to be its preferred manufacturer of cool shingles.

Tennessee association fundraises for fire victims
The Tennessee Association of Roofing Contractors (TARC) held a golf tournament fundraiser April 21 in Gatlinburg, Tenn., to benefit Gatlinburg's Mountain Tough Recovery Team, a foundation set up through the East Tennessee Foundation to continue to aid and support families who were adversely affected by wildfires on Nov. 28, 2016. The fires reportedly burned 1,800 homes and caused $500 million in damage to the tourism industry.
TARC also held a silent auction and reception after the golf tournament at the Margaritaville Island Hotel in Sevierville, Tenn., to raise funds for the East Tennessee Foundation. Items auctioned off included Gatlinburg weekend getaway packages donated by the Gatlinburg Visitors Bureau. TARC committed to fundraising $10,000 for the foundation and exceeded its goal to raise $14,000.

ICC and BPI partner to advance training
The International Code Council (ICC) and the Building Professional Institute (BPI) have partnered to advance training for building professionals in Texas. Under the agreement, ICC will manage the registration, administration and outreach for training and BPI will develop curriculum to meet the needs of building professionals.
BPI annually conducts four regional events offering quality education and training for building professionals, including building officials, municipal inspectors, architects, engineers, builders, code enforcement, contractors, and environmental health and safety personnel. Coursework completed at the training events earns Continuing Education Units to help participants maintain professional credentials. The partnership agreement enables BPI to leverage ICC's expertise and resources to elevate its training services.
In August, ICC began supplying registration and outreach services for BPI's upcoming Central Texas training event Oct. 30-Nov. 1 in Austin. For more information about BPI training events, visit bpi-tx.com.
ASSE accepting scholarship applications
The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) is accepting applications for its Family Scholarship Fund.
Established in 2013, the scholarship is available to spouses and college-age children of individuals who lost their lives in a workplace accident. Each scholarship recipient receives $10,000 toward his or her college expenses.
Scholarship applications are due Dec. 1, and an award announcement will be made April 1, 2018. To apply, visit foundation.asse.org/family-scholarship-fund.

The Metal Construction Association (MCA) has welcomed five new members: Edco Products, Hopkins, Minn.; Exterior Systems, Fulton, Miss.; Kloeckner Metals, Roswell, Ga.; Sheet Metal Supply Ltd., Mundelein, Ill.; and NRCA member William Molnar Roofing Co. Inc., Riverview, Mich.
MCA now has 95 members representing all facets of the metal construction industry.
Trent Cotney law firm awards scholarship
NRCA member Trent Cotney, P.A., a Tampa, Fla.-based construction law firm, has awarded its Trent Cotney Scholarship to Chris Schuman. Schuman is a senior at Bishop Kenny High School, Jacksonville, Fla., interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry. The scholarship will cover Schuman's tuition and fees for his senior year of high school.
The Trent Cotney Scholarship is only awarded to applicants who want to enter the construction industry after high school. To be considered for the scholarship, a student must submit an application, essay, letter of recommendation, and copy of his or her high school transcript.
MRA to host METALCON seminars
The Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) will host two seminars for metal roofing contractors during METALCON 2017 Oct. 18-20 in Las Vegas.
"Growing Your Residential Metal Roofing Company in the Age of Millennials" is designed to teach companies how to attract bright, ambitious young people while developing a profitable company culture. "Increasing Your Residential Metal Roof Company's Profitability" will reveal sales techniques that may help metal roofing contractors close sales during a first visit with a potential customer. The one-hour seminars are offered Oct. 18 and Oct. 19.

ABC Supply Co. Inc., Beloit, Wis., opened new branches in Terre Haute, Ind.; Bowling Green, Ky.; and Sterling, Va. The Terre Haute branch is ABC Supply's fourteenth location in Indiana and gives local contractors convenient access to roofing, siding and gutter products. The Bowling Green branch is ABC Supply's sixth location in Kentucky and offers steep- and low-slope roofing products to contractors in central and southern Kentucky. The Sterling location is ABC Supply's twenty-fifth location in Virginia and offers roofing, siding, windows, doors and other exterior building products.

SRS Distribution acquires New Jersey distributor
SRS Distribution Inc., McKinney, Texas, has acquired National Building Supply Corp., Dover, N.J., a family-owned distributor of residential building products.
National Building Supply now is an SRS Distribution independent distributor and its branches in Belleville, N.J.; Dover; and Roselle, N.J., will operate under the National Building Supply name while serving local contractors.

TAMKO® Building Products receives safety awards
TAMKO Building Products Inc., Joplin, Mo., has received nine safety awards from the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) in recognition of the company's safety achievements during 2016.
TAMKO Building Products' Joplin facility received ARMA's prestigious President's Award for having one of the industry's lowest ARMA index scores during a two-year period. The Joplin facility and TAMKO Building Products' Phillipsburg, Kan., facility received ARMA's Perfect Employee Safety Awards based on the facilities' safety records of zero lost or restricted days and no reportable Occupational Safety and Health Administration incidents during 2016. In addition, the facilities each received an ARMA 2016 Safety Improvement Award for reducing their ARMA Safety Index 25 percent or more during the previous year. TAMKO Building Products' facilities in Green Cove Springs, Fla.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Dallas; and Ennis, Texas, also each received an ARMA 2016 Safety Improvement Award.

OMG Roofing Products, Agawam, Mass., has kicked off its OMG Pick Six promotional game with the National Football League (NFL) season.
OMG Pick Six participants compete for weekly prizes and try to land among the top three season winners, who split more than $7,000.
