USGBC conference is recognized

The U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC's) 2008 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo has been selected by Tradeshow Week as one of the 50 fastest-growing trade shows in the U.S. and Canada. Greenbuild 2008 was held in Boston Nov. 19-21, 2008; it drew more than 28,000 attendees and featured 800 exhibit booths.

Events recognized by the publication qualify as a trade, association or consumer show and demonstrated growth from 2006-08. Tradeshow Week will formally recognize Greenbuild 2008 during an awards ceremony in November. Greenbuild 2009 will take place Nov. 11-13 in Phoenix.

Additionally, USGBC has launched the Building Performance Initiative, which will establish a comprehensive data collection effort from all Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design- (LEED®-) certified buildings; appropriately analyze that data; and provide feedback to building owners so they have better information with which to address gaps between predicted building performance and actual performance.

"This initiative is about gathering knowledge about building performance in a way no one has ever done before," says Scot Horst, USGBC's LEED senior vice president.
