Firestone Building Products announces award winners
Firestone Building Products Co. LLC, Indianapolis, has recognized 133 firms in the U.S., Canada and Mexico with a 2016 Partner in Quality Award. The award honors Firestone Building Products Red Shield™ Licensed Roofing Contractors who have delivered a high level of craftsmanship and superior roof system installations.
To qualify, contractors must have installed a minimum of eight warranted roof systems in 2014 and 2015 and four warranted roof systems per year for each of the prior three years; maintained at least 1 million square feet of Firestone Building Products roof systems under warranty; and achieved an annual Firestone Building Products Quality Incidence Rating of 1.0 or less. The winners can participate in the Firestone Building Products Community Service Program, which makes them eligible to receive a $1,000 annual credit to donate labor and materials to community roofing projects. Malarkey Roofing Products celebrates anniversary
Malarkey Roofing Products, Portland, Ore., celebrated its 60th anniversary in June. The company, a manufacturer of residential, commercial and sustainable roofing products, has been a family-owned business since 1956 and has contributed to the roofing industry by introducing products such as the first polymer-modified asphalt shingle in 1986.
In celebration of its customers, employees and products, Malarkey Roofing Products created an anniversary logo, a video titled "A History of Malarkey Roofing Products" and anniversary promotions that will be held throughout the year at trade shows and on social media.
OMG Roofing Products donates PaceCart3®
OMG Roofing Products, Agawam, Mass., donated a specially decorated PaceCart3 to the Western States Roofing Contractors Association's annual auction held June 12 at Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.
The PaceCart3 is an application tool used to apply OlyBond500® and OlyBond500 Green insulation adhesives and is capable of dispensing enough OlyBond500 to cover 60 squares in one hour. Typically marketed at $6,000, the specially decorated PaceCart3 raised $5,750 during the auction. The proceeds benefit the Davis Memorial Foundation scholarship and grant programs, which award scholarships to students interested in construction industry careers and sponsor technical roofing seminars at colleges and universities.
CertainTeed provides materials for "Home Free" show
CertainTeed Corp., Malvern, Pa., has expanded its participation in "Home Free," a home-building competition television show hosted by celebrity contractor Mike Holmes and former NFL player Tim Tebow.
During the upcoming season, contestants will complete projects designed to challenge their building skills and knowledge as they compete to win a dream home for their personal heroes. For each project, contestants will have access to CertainTeed's line of building products, including roofing; siding; and fence, deck and railing products.
CertainTeed also has partnered with solar company Amergy Solar, Piscataway, N.J., to offer reliable solar systems to Massachusetts homeowners. CertainTeed selected Amergy Solar as the exclusive installer of CertainTeed's Solstice system in the state. Amergy Solar's professional engineers, solar technicians, project managers and installation teams will work with homeowners to design and install custom solar solutions to meet customers' specific needs.
In addition, CertainTeed has opened a new 60,000-square-foot asphalt shingle manufacturing facility in Jonesburg, Mo. The facility is the final phase of a three-year construction project that also includes a 150,000-square-foot roofing product warehouse opened in 2014. The site will serve as the Midwestern distribution location for all CertainTeed roofing products, providing products to customers throughout the region.
AmesburyTruth™ acquires The BILCO Co.
The BILCO Co., New Haven, Conn., has been acquired by Edina, Minn.-based AmesburyTruth, a manufacturer of residential and commercial window and door components.
The acquisition enables AmesburyTruth to broaden its commercial product portfolio and create new residential and commercial wall and roof opening products. The BILCO Co. will continue to manufacture commercial and residential access products as a wholly owned subsidiary of AmesburyTruth.

RSS Roofing Services & Solutions opens new location
RSS Roofing Services & Solutions LLC, St. Louis, has opened a location in Evansville, Ind. The Evansville location expands RSS Roofing Services & Solutions' existing presence in the central and southeastern regions of the U.S.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at the new 7,500-square-foot facility June 23. The facility will house a large volume of materials for RSS Roofing Services & Solutions' future projects.

ABC Supply honors employees with award
ABC Supply Co. Inc., Beloit, Wis., has named Robert Amar, manager of ABC Supply's Houston branch, and Pat Keeney, manager of ABC Supply's Coon Rapids, Minn., branch, recipients of its 2016 Ken Hendricks Award.
The award is given annually to one or more employees who embody the values championed by ABC Supply's co-founders Ken and Diane Hendricks. Amar began his career with ABC Supply in 1992 and has served in his current role as manager of the Houston branch since 2001, training numerous associates to become successful managers along the way. Keeney, a 30-year veteran of the company, worked closely with Ken Hendricks early in his career and later started many of ABC Supply's locations in the Minneapolis area.
In addition, ABC Supply acquired the assets of GK Building Supply Corp., Port Chester, N.Y., a distributor of roofing, gutter and siding products. GK Building Supply will move its business to ABC Supply's new location in Stamford, Conn., and provide products and services to local contractors.

ASTM International announces award winner
ASTM International has named Fran Schrotter, senior vice president and chief operating officer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the winner of its 2016 William T. Cavanaugh Memorial Award. The annual award is named for William T. Cavanaugh, who served as ASTM International's CEO from 1970-85, and honors a person who has made extraordinary contributions to the field of national and international voluntary standards.
Since joining ANSI in 1976, Schrotter has worked with a variety of committees and organizations to develop standards in dozens of industries and supported U.S. participation in the development of domestic and international standards. The award recognizes Schrotter's sustained leadership in the U.S. and global standards community and exemplary commitment to consensus, collaboration and professionalism.
MCA announces competition details
The Metal Construction Association (MCA) has announced its third annual Metal Roofing Championship Games will take place at METALCON Oct. 26-27 in Baltimore.
Each day, five teams with two contestants each will compete in five challenges to win cash awards. A grand prize also will be awarded each day to the team that has accumulated the most points during the five challenges.
This year, the team challenges include the following: Triangle Fastener Corp. screw gun challenge; Roof Hugger Inc. hug-a-roof challenge; New Tech Machinery and Drexel Metals standing-seam challenge; D.I. Roof Seamers seam it up challenge; and an S-5! let it snow challenge. Judges will be provided by the Metal Building Contractors and Erectors Association.
