GAF receives Graphic Design USA awards

GAF, Parsippany, N.J., has received 12 American Inhouse Design Awards from Graphic Design USA magazine. The American Inhouse Design Awards showcase outstanding work completed by in-house designers.

A variety of corporations, publishing houses, nonprofit organizations, universities and government agencies submitted entries for consideration. GAF won awards for its entries in several categories, including Advertising; Announcements and Invitations; Brochures + Collateral; Corporate Identity Programs; Multimedia + Interactive; Packaging; and Logos + Symbols.

Malarkey Roofing Products facilities receive certification

Malarkey Roofing Products, Portland, Ore., has announced its manufacturing facilities in Portland; South Gate, Calif.; and Oklahoma City received Waste Diversion from Landfill Certification from GreenCircle Certified LLC, a certifier of sustainability claims for products and operations. The certification recognizes Malarkey Roofing Products' efforts to responsibly manage waste materials produced at its facilities via source reduction, reusing and recycling materials, and energy recovery.

The Portland facility received a 94 percent waste diversion rate; the South Gate facility received a 92 percent waste diversion rate; and the Oklahoma City facility received a 90 percent waste diversion rate.

IKO announces photo contest winners

IKO, Kankakee, Ill., has announced the winners of its Picture Your Perfect Dynasty Roof Photo Contest. To participate in the contest, roofing contractors throughout the U.S. and Canada submitted photos of one or more projects they completed using IKO's Dynasty asphalt shingles.

In the U.S., the grand prize winner was Ace Home Improvement, Conway, Ark., and the runners-up included Midtown Home Improvement, O'Fallon, Mo., in second place; NRCA member Midwest Construction Group LLC, St. Charles, Mo., in third and fifth place; and Ace Home Improvement in fourth place.

In Canada, the grand prize winner was Kirby's Roofing, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, and the runners-up included Integrity Roofing, Salmon Arm, British Columbia, in second place; PRH Roofing, Bradford, Ontario, in third place; and Forest City Roofing, London, Ontario, in fourth and fifth place.

WRCA fundraises for children's charity

The Wisconsin Roofing Contractors Association (WRCA) raised $10,000 in partnership with Spec Products Inc., Sun Prairie, Wis., during its annual Christmas party Dec. 5.

Party guests had the opportunity to donate throughout the event to reach WRCA's $5,000 goal. Spec Products matched the amount raised, bringing the total to $10,000. The money was donated to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, a research facility and pediatric treatment center focused on children's diseases.

Ramon Franklin acquires waterproofing division

Ramon Franklin, Fort Worth, Texas, has acquired the waterproofing division of Oklahoma City-based Saratoga Roofing and Construction LLC. The company has announced plans to open offices in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Okla.

Distributor news

ABC Supply acquires roofing distributor

ABC Supply Co. Inc., Beloit, Wis., has acquired the assets of roofing products distributor ROOFTEK Roofing Supplies Inc., Miamisburg, Ohio.

The acquisition provides ABC Supply with a third location in the Dayton, Ohio, area. The store will continue to offer roofing products to local contractors in the south side of Dayton.

RCMA revises LEED^® white paper

The Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association (RCMA) has revised its Reflective Roof Coatings and LEED white paper to incorporate updates from version 4 (v4) of the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED green building program.

The white paper originally was issued by the Reflective Roof Coatings Institute in 2012 and provides explanations for stakeholders regarding the cost-effective contributions of roof coatings and environmentally sound projects that use LEED. Members of the RCMA Reflective Roof Coatings Institute, RCMA Technical Affairs Committee and RCMA Codes and Standards Task Force collaborated to update the white paper to include information from LEED v4.

PIMA announces new member

The Polyisocyanurate Insulation Manufacturers Association (PIMA) has announced SOPREMA Inc., Wadsworth, Ohio, joined the group as a manufacturing member. SOPREMA is the seventh manufacturer to join PIMA.

Triangle Fastener Corp. has launched its new website, www.trianglefastener.com. The website's format provides easy access to product information and installation tips, and the site is mobile-friendly, allowing users to view information via smartphones and tablets.

ABC Supply Co. Inc. has named Todd Bardell manager of its Dubuque, Iowa, location.
