Longtime Duro-Last® sales manager retires
Duro-Last Inc., Saginaw, Mich., has announced the retirement of Don Morris, independent sales manager. Morris served the company for 36 years before retiring Sept. 30, 2017.
During his time with Duro-Last, Morris helped build a strong network of authorized contractors and other industry professionals in Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. As one of Duro-Last's original independent sales representatives, Morris also was instrumental with helping John R. Burt, founder of Duro-Last, develop the foundation for the company's current position.
"Don has been a vital part of the Duro-Last family for many years," says Kathy Burt Allen, John Burt's daughter. "He has always inspired the best in people with his honesty, character and work ethic—it's been an honor to work with him."
Triangle Fastener opens new tech center
Triangle Fastener Corp., Pittsburgh, has opened a new 1,100-square-foot technology center in Cleveland.
The facility contains all the equipment necessary to facilitate product design using computer-assisted design software; product development, including 3-D printing and a machine shop; product evaluation, including tensile, shear, harness, pull-out, pullover and drill tests; and certification. The center also will be used to provide additional engineering and product development support to customers.
Atlas® Roofing partners with Veterans Community Project
Atlas Roofing Corp., Atlanta, has announced a new partnership with Veterans Community Project, a Kansas City-based nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating veteran homelessness.
Veterans Community Project assists homeless veterans by providing transitional housing solutions and social services. The organization's most recent project involves building a veteran housing village of 50 tiny houses to give veterans privacy, security and the ability to reintegrate into their communities at a comfortable pace. Mentoring, case management and counseling services also will be provided to veterans through an on-site community center.
Atlas Roofing will provide energy-efficient materials to support the village's construction, recruit local contractors to help build the village and ensure each completed tiny house complies with Kansas City's residential building codes.

Antis Roofing and Waterproofing wins award
Antis Roofing and Waterproofing, Irvine, Calif., received the Best Corporate Steward—Small and Middle-Market Business Award at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's 2017 Corporate Citizenship Awards Nov. 15 in Washington, D.C.
Since 2000, the Corporate Citizenship Awards have showcased how businesses make the world a better place through corporate social responsibility (CSR). Antis Roofing and Waterproofing was recognized for demonstrating a successful deployment of CSR strategy to support its growth goals, emphasizing social responsibility as a core characteristic of its company culture and encouraging its employees to engage in community service.
During 2016, Antis Roofing and Waterproofing donated more than $700,000 through cash and in-kind donations to more than 40 nonprofit organizations, including Alzheimer's Orange County, Boys & Girls Club of Garden Grove, Families Forward, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, OneOC, Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Orange County. Antis Roofing and Waterproofing also donated 10 large-scale roof maintenance and replacement projects and 100 roof leak repairs for families in need.

Tennessee association names Trent Cotney general counsel
The Tennessee Association of Roofing Contractors (TARC) has named NRCA member Trent Cotney, P.A., a Tampa, Fla.-based construction law firm, general counsel to the association.
As TARC's general counsel, Trent Cotney will provide a variety of pro bono legal services to the association, including legal guidance regarding corporate structure, corporate bylaws, regulatory compliance and governance policies.

Associations seek copper awards submissions
The Copper Development Association (CDA) and Canadian Copper & Brass Development Association (CCBDA) are accepting submissions for the 11th annual North American Copper in Architecture awards program.
CDA and CCBDA are seeking submissions from companies in the U.S. and Canada that have completed unique and innovative projects using copper or copper alloys. The project categories are Restoration/Renovation and New Construction. Previous award-winning copper projects have included government buildings, museums, single-family homes, fire stations and places of worship. Each winner will receive a copper plaque featuring an etching of their award-winning project during an awards ceremony in New York City.

PIMA announces new technical director
The Polyisocyanurate Insulation Manufacturers Association (PIMA) announced Marcin Pazera is the association's new technical director.
Pazera holds a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering from Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y., and has 16 years' experience in the building, construction and insulation industries. He has worked on the entire insulation process—from research and product conception to testing and product support after installation. As PIMA's technical director, Pazera will coordinate all technical-related activities within PIMA, serve as primary liaison to organizations involved in the development of building standards and represent the polyisocyanurate industry at industry-related meetings.
The Alliance welcomes new member
The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress has announced Wagner Roofing Co., Hyattsville, Md., joined at the Governor level. Wagner Roofing's membership commitment entitles the company to participate in project task forces established to guide the Alliance's agenda and attend semiannual meetings of the full Alliance.
The Alliance was established in 1996 within the National Roofing Foundation to create an endowment fund to serve as a resource for the roofing industry and its customers. The Alliance now has 165 members.

The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association has updated its website, www.asphaltroofing.org. The website now features a simplified home page, two main entry points for homeowners and building professionals, a redesigned contractor awards submissions page, and enhanced mobile viewing and navigation.
